Ballast

Ballast is a coarse aggregate commonly used in rail infrastructure applications. Typically supplied in larger sizes than standard construction aggregates, it is used beneath railway tracks and within rail corridors as part of the track support system.

Rock fragments typically in the 100–300 mm size range, used in construction and landscaping applications requiring medium-sized, durable material.
